Arts of Mars Sword Academy HEMA is pleased to announce the 3rd World Wide Open Longsword Championship 2012

Yes it is on!
The 3rd World Wide Open Longsword Championship is scheduled for the week of 4th August - 12th August 2012. The premier event for testing your combat skills against the best fighters in the world. This is a date for your diary. We have specifically made the event from Saturday to Sunday, Saturday is for arrival and the grand opening, and Sunday 12th is the departure day.

The event has been moved to a new venue only 8 kilometres from the last venue. We have a brand new sports hall and nearby a great accommodation and training area, with ample space for all requirements.

Sports Hall at 31867 Hülsede Germany: Sankt Agidien Strasse
Accommodation at 31867 Meinsen: Corner of Wiesengrund and Meinser Strasse : Haus Weichselland.

Registration will take place next year either in March or April. There will be a strict limited numbers for the workshops and the tournaments.

Remember this event is split into 2 parts. The first part, from Sunday 5th to Wednesday 8th August inclusive will be packed with workshops from some of the best instructors in the world. The second part will be several Tournaments from Thursday 9th to Saturday 11th August 2012 inclusive.

The number of tournaments has not yet been decided, though probably two categories for Longsword, one for sword and buckler, and Rapier, and maybe a dagger tournament. Remember also that this is no knock-out tournament system. Each fighter will fight a minimum number of fights, usually around 12, depending upon number of entries. The finals will take place on Saturday afternoon, followed by the grand closing dinner at the restaurant Grunspan, Hülsede.

The price will be decided nearer the time, though all tickets will include full food and accommodation! As well as including the entrance to either the workshops, the tournaments or both. All welcome!
